Harvey

Mean Streets-Harvey Keitel
My boy Wil C lent me this flick over the weekend. I haven't scene Mean Streets in about a good 10 years. It's true the older you get the more appreciation you have for the past. In this case it has nothing to do with nostalgia or the old New York but vision and respect for what Martin Scorsese did for cinema. The slow motion pan bar scene has been ripped off to death over the years. But nothing beats the original. The red of the room, the characters at the bar and the 50 yard stare of Harvey Keitel. Don't get me wrong young De Niro does his thing but plays a good second fiddle. Next time you watch Mean Streets peep Harvey's shirt, the lapel, the knot in the tie and the three piece suit. Classic! What's a mook?
